preston
About this song:
“This is a song I initiated back in the days of that house of James and Grace. Beachside? Briarwood? Forgot the name of the street. My band has redone this song and has played it live once or twice in the recent past. Tim and I performed on it and recorded it in that makeshift studio space there. ”
cavedweller
From the album “The Oldest Arm in 18 Parts”.
1995 was the year Cavedweller, born Dirk Michener, blew out of Denton with his molasses-rich, lo-fi ramblings. Initially an acoustic endeavor, Michener, who also co-founded the now-Austin-based Business Deal Records, surveyed the weird and the bizarre via his guitar, incorporating the best Sixties folk with a love of Sebadoh.
percoladies
Percoladies are Austin’s premier rainy day coffee shop band comprised of Rosemary French, Patrick Healy, and Christopher Lyons. Pat plays bass, Rosemary plays keys, and Chris plays guitar. Common themes in their songs are suicide, wheel worms, and the planet Neptune. They have been making Super 8 films for their songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lkIazQjY_A) and editing them with Tim Bond at Bundyhill. A new song is currently in the works for this song about a doomed astronaut.
chants
In the relative isolation of Christchurch, New Zealand, in the mid-1960s, Chants R&B developed a sound heavily indebted to the raunchiest and most R&B-influenced bands of the British Invasion, such as the Rolling Stones, Them, and the Yardbirds. Only two singles were released during the band’s lifetime, and like numerous American garage bands, they weren’t as skilled or original as the British groups that inspired them. However, they were pretty good as such bands went, and certainly among the best acts of this sort in Australasia.
Basic
“What’s in a name? Well, Basic‘s name is appropriate: Three chords, bass, drums. Still, it’s hard to pin down why the local trio’s music is so infectious. Buddy Holly’s lovesick lyrics and Sebadoh’s heart-dragging jangle are fairly good starts, as singer/guitarist Jason Pearson’s lyrics are forever pining and mending. Composed of Pearson, bassist Nemir Naayem, and drummer Adam Jones (Yellow Fever, Teenage Dog) and assembled in 2005, Basic subbed in Baby Robots drummer Glenn Barovich, and 2007′s Favorite Movie is a good starting point.” - Audra Schroeder, Austin Chronicle

winston and pat
One fine day, we decided to make up as many songs as we could in as little time as possible to test out Winston’s roomate’s studio. The 716 studio is now up and running. Winston and Pat will probably make up more songs soon.
Business Deal
Soup or Group 3 was a band made from various musicians under the Business Deal Records umbrella. Soup or Group 3 was the 3rd incarnation and recorded only a few songs in the now defunct Trash House Studio. The song Wave Us On made it onto the 2005 compilation and was regularly played live by other Business Deal bands.
The Astronaut Suit
The Astronaut Suit is not a literal one, but a metaphor for the Human Body as a vessel between the Temporal and the Eternal states. Music is created through this format. It comes not from the Body but through it………..for booking info-contact: jessfarrtexas@yahoo.com
The song, The Soul of a Man is from their first EP, East of Eden
Stanton Meadowdale
Stanton Meadowdale’s Bio:
“Love. Comradeship. Up all night together on coke and making songs because we are alone otherwise. A beach house in the Hamptons. That Winter month together. It’s like Rome is Roma and Roma spelled backwards is Amor, which is Love. And Amor is A Mor, as in the absence of death. So, Love is the victor over death.”
The Scrams
The Scrams are Joe Cardillo, Dan Eiland, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, and Matt Vanek from Albuquerque, New Mexico. They recently released a 7 inch record and sent us an eVersion of the album and we’re really digging it. You can buy their 7 inch here. Our favorite was the 60′s inspired song, The Molasses. The Molasses is a brand new dance that’s sweeping the nation, or at least New Mexico, or at least Albuquerque. Listen here and do the molasses.
