evil bebos

The night grew louder as Boston based Irepress took the stage. Sounding like something of a mix between Mastadon and The Appleseed Cast, Irepress served as a sort of gateway between AOE and Evil Bebos. As my eyes grew tired and my ears were being pushed to the limit, noise rockers Evil Bebos went on. I was not sure what to expect after hearing the songs on their Myspace page, but I was pleasantly surprised by the live show they put on. Devin and Chris from AOE pulled double duty as (they are also members of Evil Bebos). Beards and hair flew everywhere as growling vocals rumbled throughout Wall Street. Technical guitar work, swirling synth sounds and bass that could make your heart stop all added up to a pleasant first experience with Evil Bebos. Evil Bebos will be playing The Muse on July 19. -Jason Goucher

wavves

Wavves are a Lo-fi/punk band based in San Diego, California. They released their self-titled debut LP in 2008 and drew the attention of Pitchfork Media. Singer Nathan Williams experienced public breakdown as the band was unable to complete their set at the 2009 Barcelona Primavera Sound Festival. Williams, who admitted he’d taken a cocktail of ecstasy and Valium, fought with drummer Ryan Ulsh and insulted the Spanish crowd, who then pelted him with bottles and a shoe.

wolves

wolves

Nathan Weaver was inspired to create a band that merged a Cascadian eco-spiritual awareness with the misanthropic Norwegian eruptions of the 90′s. The band envisioned would strive to create a mythic space where artist and listener alike could strip away the mindset of the mundane to reveal a more ancient and transcendent consciousness. The mysterious and wild energies of the untrammeled forests of the Northwest would be channeled into sonic form. This song is from Wolves in the Throne Room‘s first album.

Coma In Algiers

Coma In Algiers

One day Killshire & Archbold were listening to the Electric Eels and were full of disgust & joy for their lack of talent; they armed themselves with cymbals, synths and large amps and, in the summer of 2001 in the fine city of Austin, called themselves Coma in Algiers.

This song The Weather is from their album, “Your Heart Your Body”.

office

office

Influenced by Norweigan Death Metal and most stoner metal, the short lived Northwestern band, Office, only recorded one night. This song was about the 3rd coming of Jesus and is of poor recording quality. Office was comprised of Rick Masher and Bobby Ratzinger, but is no longer together.
