Hard Rock Zombie
Hard Rock Zombie: from the bottom of my magic pump.. a coal lump.. to bury her favorite hole.. one thousand years later.. all we know is diamonds.. and shoveling trumps for mimes.. hanging out where the one world ends, turns out puna was the fuckin’ horizon…
Here’s a new song called, “Sold Them Bums”
Mexican Hayride
Not to be confused with Mexican Hayride, the 1948 film starring the comedy team of Abbott and Costello where two con men selling phony stock flee to Mexico ahead of the law, where they run into a woman friend from their earlier days, who is now a bullfighter. No, this was just a song Preston Dukes and Travis Catsull recorded one day.
Julandrew
“This husband and wife music team, recording out of Austin, Texas, are truly talented indie artists who are no strangers to writing catchy tunes with great melodic hooks. The album’s raw, organic blend of acoustic guitars, drums and vocal harmonies are just plain fun makes you want to listen to it over and over. Go, Julandrew!” –Kristian Gabriel
Jennifer Moore of Yellow Fever
Taken from the Austin Chronicle”
“Local trio YellowFever knows how to scare up a perfect pop song. Guitarist/vocalist Jennifer Moore, and drummer Adam Jones all spent time in the much-missed early-Aughties group Teenage Dog, and YellowFever, which debuted in 2006, is an extension of that off-kilter sound. The local trio also has branches in bands like the Carrots and Voxtrot (Moore), Basic (Jones), and local label Business Deal Records, which has released innumerable projects involving the two. Hugpatch Records released an EP, Cats and Rats, in 2007.”
Here’s a song from that EP.
The Morakestra
Founders and key creative minds David and Will Mora are twin brothers who were proudly born and raised in the West Texas border city, El Paso, Texas. Fellow El Pasoan Jim Ward contributed to the rebirth of Morakestra via production and recording of the band’s latest album, Witness to Connection, released in June 09 on indie label Stratking Records.
We found this album @ The Hideout in downtown Austin in the free section.
Coma In Algiers
One day Killshire & Archbold were listening to the Electric Eels and were full of disgust & joy for their lack of talent; they armed themselves with cymbals, synths and large amps and, in the summer of 2001 in the fine city of Austin, called themselves Coma in Algiers.
This song The Weather is from their album, “Your Heart Your Body”.
Tim Bond
Tim Bond, Preston Dukes and Joshua Bomberger got together one night and stayed up all night, fueled by the powder in the air, they recorded this song. It took all night, but it was well worth it. Take a listen.
Cityhall Gambler
Cityhall Gambler (aka Eric Sterling) was born in Houston, Texas and writes country songs. His influences include Don Williams, Silver Jews, Jack Johnson, Johnny (Paycheck and Cash), Waylon Jennings and Texas country music in general. He recently returned to Austin, Texas after living in Louisville, Kentucky. Cityhall Gambler will begin recording his first album this Fall.
The Domesticated
The Domesticated is the baby of Erik Bradford, a Washington D.C. transplant living in Austin. He currently plays with Danny Mee, drummer of Houston band, The Jonx. The Domesticated is an amalgamation of styles, generally channeled through the spaghetti western twang of various Fender equipment. Doom, gloom, and psychedelic mushrooms. It’s all there. Prog, frogs, and Dock Boggs, it’s there as well.
The song, Antithetical, was recorded in the summer of 2008 at Bundyhill Studios in Austin, Texas, and is as of yet unreleased. Hear more at www.myspace.com/thedomesticated
Spud Webb vs. Jordan
La Junta High School is free style rap group formed in 2003 that mostly sang about former and current basketball players. They released a few songs here and there, but have since drifted off into other bands. Here is a rare La Junta High School track featuring guest rapper Afrikadabra (aka Switchblade) from the Hayden Elders. In this song he calls out Spud Webb for being ugly. Spud Webb was born into poverty. He was raised in a small three-bedroom home and used basketball as an inspiration. Webb was never tall, but he used his quickness and jumping ability to outplay the other kids. At Wilmer-Hutchins High School, he played on the junior varsity team where he made a large impact.
Chris Stroffolino
Chris Stroffolino is SHORT and has been in bands with TALL Front men (David Berman–Silver Jews; Sir Lord Von Raven, Brett Eugene Ralph, Brian Glaze), so he tends to think of TALL people as OLDER than him. Oh yeah, Stroffolino also wrote a lot of books of poetry, and they made NOTHING happen! Glorious Nothing! And music/cultural criticism, etc. Chris lives in Oakland, California.
Muleskinner Jones
The story of Muleskinner Jones is a long and fairly unpleasant one so we won’t bother you with the messy details. But it’s safe to say a deep love of every kind of country music (apart from that kind) and avant-rock means you’re as likely to find him listening to Bob Wills And His Texas Playboys as to Captain Beefheart. Jones also enjoys good red wine, horror movies, westerns, and video games. He is socially inept and lives in Southwest England.
Business Deal
Soup or Group 3 was a band made from various musicians under the Business Deal Records umbrella. Soup or Group 3 was the 3rd incarnation and recorded only a few songs in the now defunct Trash House Studio. The song Wave Us On made it onto the 2005 compilation and was regularly played live by other Business Deal bands.
Cavedweller
About Cavedweller 1995:cavedweller recorded their first tape in a room while several people were sleeping. 1997: cavedweller played their first show @ The Argo in Denton TX. 2002: cavedweller moves to Austin, TX.

Chef
One night, a long time ago @ Chef’s house Walt, Preston, Gene, Smokey, Tim and possibly others gathered in a small kitchen in a close proximity of many neighbors and recorded songs all night. Feeling trapped and unable to turn their instruments up to full volume they recorded a song about their dream: To become a rowdy and loudly obnoxious band.
Mrs. Muffet and the Mexicans
From one of members of Mrs. Muffet and the Mexicans:
“You don’t know about Mrs Muffet and the Mexicans? I thought you did. It’s basically just the Old-Timerz plus Eric Ragsdale on Farfisa. It’s what the Old-Timerz started as until we jettisoned the name because it was just too stupid. We only played a handful of shows as Mrs. Muffet and the Mexicans, but we recorded a demo that you probably got “Lords of London” from. Old-Timerz continued playing that song but I think the only recording is by Mrs Muffet.”
Pataphysics
Corn Mo

His music style is a mixture of circus music, glam rock, and humorous novelty songs. He is currently recording his third solo album, and albums with his band .357 Lover. Many of his songs and parody stylings are heavily influenced by Meat Loaf (to whom he bears a strong physical resemblance) and Queen.
The Astronaut Suit
The Astronaut Suit is not a literal one, but a metaphor for the Human Body as a vessel between the Temporal and the Eternal states. Music is created through this format. It comes not from the Body but through it………..for booking info-contact: jessfarrtexas@yahoo.com
The song, The Soul of a Man is from their first EP, East of Eden
