fishboy
Fishboy is a four-piece eccentric indie pop band from Denton, TX that began as the bedroom solo project of front man Eric Michener. He was given the nickname on a middle-school field trip after a dare to pluck and swallow a fish at the Dallas World Aquarium. Six years and several shoe boxes full of cassette tapes later, Michener moved from the suburbs to the Texas rock-and-roll Mecca of Denton with a handful of low budget recordings released by the close-knit Austin music collective Business Deal Records. This song is a Gene Defcon song covered by Fishboy recorded for the Asthmatic Kitty tribute to K Records.

Hailed by the Austin Chronicle as one of the city’s “most promising singer-songwriters” and “most arresting female vocalists,” her distinctive talents and singular creative vision find full and brilliant fruition on her debut full-length national album release, oh skies of grey.
monkeytown
The story thus far. After moving to Denton in 1997 i started a one man band called MonkeyTown. I released two albums on my own while living there MonkeyBlood & Departure. After coming back to Austin in 2001 i released three more albums independently Shut In, the Cubic Trilogy, and the Death of MonkeyTown. In 2005 Meandering Way released Anthems for a Numb Tomorrow. In 2007 my good friends Rhett Hubertus and Michael Barnes joined me as a three piece. We just finished recording our seventh album Still Life with MonkeyTown. It will be available in 2009.
This song is called “New Moon” from their 2004 Meandering Way release.
hills
Hills sounds like an intergalactic battle between the remaining human race and the evil aliens of the planet Nebulon 457. It looks as though the humans have somehow gathered their numbers, and are retaliating with a strength not seen of the abject mortals since 2027(just three years after they took earth back from the lunatic robots that stole it away in 2012). They are from Seattle, WA and this song is from their debut album, Animal Ides.
Pataphysics
‘Pataphysics (French: ‘pataphysique) is a philosophy or pseudophilosophy dedicated to studying what lies beyond the realm of metaphysics. It is a parody of the theory and methods of modern science and is often expressed in nonsensical language. The term was coined and the concept created by French writer Alfred Jarry (1873 – 1907), who defined ‘pataphysics as “the science of imaginary solutions, which symbolically attributes the properties of objects, described by their virtuality, to their lineaments”.
Parked it away.
The Philmapsters are a band created in honor of the now defunct zolo band, “The Zom Zoms” and was initially created by the Business Deal Lotto Experiment. Also knows as the Austin Band Lotto. The Austin Band Lotto is a long-term experimental project whose goal is to promote the formation of new sounds, songs, friends and bands within and without the Austin music scene.
Here is a sample song of what you can expect from the upcoming release of Band Lotto 2. This is a “glam” song about jerks.

Mike and Smokey
From Chef of The Atlantic Sand Band:
“This song was recorded in close proximity, like a week before or after I think, to the song Rowdy Wolfpack. Recorded in my room on a shitty computer with protools. Same people pretty much as Atlantic Sand Band(Walt, Smokey, Gene, and probably Tim and Preston). Not sure who is playing guitar, either Preston or maybe even Dirk? I think Walt or Gene played keyboard.”

Eddie Mexico
Eddie Mexico is from Beaumont, Texas and works at Luby’s. In his spare time he records rhymes, raps and poems into any free standing microphone in the Bay area. It took him quite awhile to get this one down on paper and computer, but it finally came around. He doesn’t have a myspace profile or a facebook or a website or an email address. He only has a job selling drugs and doing whatever else. Here’s his first recorded song called, “Robot Mountain”. Most of his other songs are about peel out contests and tubing on the river.
Knock Me Down
Years ago, Smokey Farris, Gene Defcon and Travis Catsull got together to record a number of songs in an apartment in Austin, Texas. All the material was quiet, lo-fi songs sang in a freestyle mood. Here is one of those songs.

They Shoot Horses, Don't They
They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? present us with a dark and violent world where people are readily exploited for the pennies that they might bring in from a viewing audience. Marathon dances last for weeks, even months, draining their participants of self-respect and gradually turning them into the walking dead. TSHDT are from Vancouver, Canada.
